Hackastory

Project: Dilemma

HACKASTORY #4 (VR Hackathon) – Breda (NL) (october 31st and November 1st 2015)

This is your chance to turn your world upside down. Literally. This happens in a multiplayer VR cardboard game. One player is inside the maze and the other player is outside. The player in the maze needs the other to exit. That ‘outsider’ can help with turning the maze in different directions. But he has a dilemma…

Challenge

Alka: “Working on 1 idea with 11 people didn’t sound like the best idea. So, we decided to split up in two teams: a technical and storytelling/gameplay group. Even though, tt still took quite a bit of time to discuss our plans.”

Epic win

Ryan: “When Paulina and I got the animation working for the cardboard. We hadn’t done any research. Our theory was to duplicate the graphics, place them side by side and make a movie out of it. We were holding our breaths when Wietse tried it for the first time. He was looking through his cardboard when he said: ‘It’s working. This is so sick’. That was an epic win.”

The story continues

Hans: “The dev team has been doing a bunch of work to build a stronger foundation of code. The innerView actually uses a proper 3D model now instead of the bulky boxes. We’ve also added a skybox and lighting for more atmosphere.” (update: November 12th)
